You may have seen the headlines:
“Nonprofits Face a Post-Pandemic Giving Cliff” – Chronicle of Philanthropy
“Federal Aid for Shelters Delayed as Congress Stalls” – AJC
“A New Era of Giving Fatigue?” – The Nonprofit Times
We’re not exempt from the ripple effects.
Last month, we received an email confirming that BELOVED was selected as a grantee for a federal funding opportunity. However, due to delays at the national level, the funding has been paused indefinitely.
“While BELOVED has been selected as a potential grantee, the national board overseeing the funds has paused all disbursements due to uncertainty around federal funding. The status and timeline for this grant ($30,000) remains unknown.”
When instability rises, vulnerable communities suffer most.
In 2020, we began diversifying our funding to help protect our foundation. But the heart of our support has always been you—our individual donors. You’re the ones who sustain this work. When systems stall, you step in. When the headlines cast doubt, you remain steady.
Because of your support, we’re moving forward. With strategy shaped by BELOVED clients, community partners, and our internal clinical team, we began laying the groundwork this spring for two pilot initiatives to meet emerging needs:
A vocational program focused on employment readiness and career-building—set to launch in full this fall.
A community case management model to expand our support beyond residential homes—beginning now with a fuller launch planned for fall.
We’re piloting these initiatives in real time, adapting to what we’re learning, and walking alongside the women we serve with care and intention.
More updates are coming soon.
But for now, know this: while the headlines may say “uncertain,” we are clear on our calling—and confident in the community carrying us forward.
